The purpose of this policy is to serve as a Benefits Plan guide for the board, staff, and members. The policy covers such items as interpretations and definitions, guiding principles of the Benefits Plan, enrolment in and eligibility for the Benefits Plan, authority and responsibility for the Benefits Plan, and policy specifics.

Where applicable, the information below refers to the related section in the Benefits Plan Internal Policy.

Members must use the online Insurer's Handbook to ensure they are accessing the most current coverage details on each of the mandatory and optional coverages.

The online version of the insurer's booklet can be found:

1. On your MyGroupHEALTH account (online or through phone APP)
2. On your WEBS Online account, from where you can see your billing statements on a monthly basis.

 Registration to MyGroupHEALTH and WEBS Online is only available to group plan members. 

September 2022 Update - According to the Board recommendation to immediately enroll ALL REMAINING MEMBERS without LTD coverage in our existing plan, the following steps have been taken:

1. Eliminating the minimum annual income requirement - all BCCNM Practicing members (including Practicing, Provisional, Limited Scope and Temporary-Emergency) are eligible for enrolment, regardless level of annual income. 
2. Reducing the waiting period to 3 months - The precious waiting period of 15-months continuous BCCNM practicing registration class has been reduced to 3 months. 
3. Other eligibility requirements as per Section 6: Benefits Plan Eligibility Criteria of the Benefits Policy remain. 

Once eligible, a member is required to enroll in the MABC Benefits Plan, in order to maintain their good standing with the MABC. {Section 7: Mandatory Plan Enrolment and Late Enrolment}.

New Practicing midwife registrants will be contacted via email to complete their online enrollment to the Benefits Group Plan.

GroupHEALTH Benefit Solutions is our benefits third-party administrator.  GroupHEALTH is responsible for matters pertaining the record keeping of our plan members, collection of premium payments and to advocate with the insurance providers.
