Additional information: Vera Berard RM has retired from birth work. She currently offers postpartum services to families that have doctors providing their prenatal, labor and birth care. Most of her postpartum clients enrol into her practice during their pregnancies and have a consultation visit with Vera in their 3rd trimester to prepare for their postpartum recovery, baby feeding and early parenting. When she has capacity, Vera also enrols folk that contact her for postpartum care and breastfeeding support the first week after their baby has been born. Besides afterbirth care, Vera also offers initial and early pregnancy services to North Shore residents at the beginning of their pregnancies, who would like one-on-one care, until they transfer for ongoing prenatal, labor and birth care: either to another midwife, or to a doctor at the end of their first, or 2nd trimester. Vera has an established transfer process with doctors and midwives that avoids duplication of services and appointments. She also provides prenatal care up until the middle of a person's 3rd trimester, who is moving out of BC in their later pregnancy. After the last scheduled appointment, when Vera's care ends. She provides her clients and their ongoing midwife/doctor's office a copy their records. Vera's early pregnancy clients that have a doctor providing their later prenatal, labor and birth care, have the option to choose to have a 3rd trimester visit with Vera to prepare for life with their babies. Vera's afterbirth postpartum services, begin in their homes on the 1st or 2nd day after they have been discharged from hospital. Her services end with a closure office visit, at Shipyards Health 88 Lonsdale Ave, around 6 weeks postpartum. Vera provides clients a mixture of remote, office and inperson office visits. They receive a schedule of appointments to confirm via her remote office at the beginning of their care. She delights in forming partnerships with clients around their individual care needs. Her preferred contact method is via email, followed up with a tentative visit that clients, or colleagues confirm. Vera's services are offered to North Shore residents. Her preferred area of service is within North Vancouver City's boundaries. She responds to emails within 2 - 5 business days and has a text message system that clients in care can use to request a telephone consultation between their scheduled visits. Potential clients are informed when she has no capacity. Vera does not respond to expresssions of interest in her service, if folk live off the North Shore. Providing that she has capacity, she may consider providing services to folk locating to the North Shore during their pregnancies. Vera's services are remunerated by MSP for BC residents and private pay for those that do not have MSP. For more information, or to access care go to Vera's website https://midwiferycare.ca/ Complete a client intake form, if you would like to enrol into her services. Vera will get back to you within 2 - 5 business days.
